DELANO, MN No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle traffic crash that damaged one of the city’s entrance monuments near the intersection of Highway 12 and Bridge Avenue Wednesday just before 4 p.m.
Jeffrey Robert Hausladen Jr., 19, of Waverly, stated he was driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre westbound on Highway 12 when he fell asleep and went off the road, hitting a cement barrier, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
Hausladen said he was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office. His vehicle was heavily damaged.
The sheriff’s office advised the City of Delano about the damage to the monument, and no further action was taken.
Delano City Administrator Phil Kern said the incident has been turned in to the insurance company. He said he expects the monument to be repaired in the spring or summer when the weather allows the work to be done.
