Delano businesses play musical chairs

DELANO, MN – Now almost two months into the new year, several Delano businesses have been able to make themselves at home at new locations around town.

Ameriprise Financial, Delano Chiropractic Center, Foster Bros. Marine, and Magraw Dental have all relocated within the community.

Ameriprise Financial

Financial advisor Kevin Max recently relocated from his long-time home near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and River Street to 405 Babcock Boulevard, Suite 120, next to the Delano Eye Clinic.

Max said increased visibility and an ease for parking for clients were several reasons he relocated.

“It is getting to busy downtown for my client base,” Max said. “Delano has really moved to the highway. You go downtown for a destination.”

From 1986 to 1994, Max was located in another building on River Street, and moved to 158 North River Street in the summer of 1994, where his business had been located until moving to the Highway 12 location Dec. 9.

“We are able to layout our office in a more efficient manner,” Max said of the new location. Another benefit, he said, is natural lighting from large windows on multiple sides of his new office. A larger reception area, conference room, and additional office space are all new features Max is enjoying at his new home.

“We could have another advisor or two join us,” Max said. “We don’t have immediate plans to do that, but it is nice to have the flexibility.”

Ameriprise Financial is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and evenings and weekends by appointment.

“It’s been very well-received by clients,” he said of the change. “We share good synergy with our neighbors.”

Delano Chiropractic Center

Moving from his Bridge Avenue location across town to 1005 Crossings Drive (between Shock City Wireless/Verizon and Fantastic Sam’s), Dr. Jeremiah Staples of Delano Chiropractic Center is enjoying the additional space his new home has provided.

“We needed to increase the space a bit because business has been growing,” Staples said. “Delano has a lot of options. This one provides great visibility.”

Staples, who had spent just over five years at his River Street location, has been practicing for 14 years. Before coming to Delano, he had worked in Excelsior, Monticello, Texas, and Cokato.

“The move out here (to Delano) was to get back working for myself again,” Staples said.

Delano Chiropractic Center will be adding massage therapy, as well as an associate doctor down the road, he said.

Delano Chiropractic Clinic is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

“Our patients have said this is a huge upgrade,” he said. “People like the location, it’s easier to get to, and it’s closer to the stuff they do, whether that be bank or grocery store. It feels so much bigger and more comfortable.”

Foster Bros. Marine

Foster Bros. Marine has relocated north from its former home on Highway 12 to the building formerly occupied by the Delano Sports Center.

Owners Brian and Mark Foster said the timing was right to make the move to a larger facility.

“Everything just kind of worked out,” Brian Foster said. “We were looking for a larger location and remaining in Delano.”

In 2006, the brothers purchased Mullen Marine from Hank Mullen. Much like when the opportunity to relocate their business presented itself, the Foster brothers knew the time was right to begin their business when Mullen decided to retire. The move to the former Delano Sports Center increased the amount of space the Fosters had from 3,200 square feet to 22,000 square feet.

“This just opens opportunities for us,” Mark Foster said, noting they recently brought in the Starcraft line for larger pontoons. “As far as moving a business goes, it went pretty smooth.”

Specializing in Qwest compact pontoons, outboard motors, docks, and trailers for all boats and utility vehicles, Foster Marine also offers repair, storage and winterizing services. Additional lines and offerings are also in the works.

Foster Brothers is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A grand opening is planned in the future.

Magraw Dental

Perhaps the shortest move was for Delano dentist Dr. Susan Magraw of Magraw Dental.

She merged her practice to a shared office space with Dr. Chris MacLean, whose office is located at 327 13th Street, Suite 100.

Magraw has been in Delano since 2005. Prior to moving to Delano, Magraw had a practice in Mound, MN where she provided dental care to the residents of the Westonka area for more than 20 years.
