DELANO, MN – Renowned children’s artist Jack Pearson kicked off the annual summer concerts in the park series Wednesday, hosted by the General Federated Women’s Club (GFWC) of Delano.

Without donations from sponsors this year, the concerts in the park series would not be happening due to the GFWC not receiving grant funding as it had in years past.

“We were so pleased to see our sponsors from last year, new sponsors, individuals and sponsors who donated more this year to help us,” said Jeanie Pilarski of the GFWC. “We cannot thank them enough.

Pilarski said the Delano community enjoys the entertainment, socializing, and meeting at the park for this summer time activity.

The 2014 concerts in the park sponsors are: 3-D Construction, Chevrolet of Delano, Coborn’s, Crow River State Bank, Dale Vander Linden, Dave’s Town Club, Delano American Legion Family, Delano Lions Club, Edward Jones Investments, Greg Krause-Handyman at PQS, Knights of Columbus #4653, Landscape Structures, Loopy’s Dollar Store, Matter Reuter CPAs Ltd, Randy’s Environmental Services, Stahlke Bus Service, State Bank of Delano, Delano Herald Journal, and Delano Community Education.

“We are so appreciative of the support from our fantastic community,” Pilarski said.

The concert committee is Lisa Blodgett, Diane Johnson, Marlene Muckenhirn, Pilarski, and Judy Vanderlinde. All concerts are in Central Park at the gazebo. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be at the Delano Middle School auditorium.
