Large pool files for offices in Delano, Montrose

DELANO, MN – Local residents have thrown their hat into the ring for the opportunity to serve on the Delano City Council.

Delano Mayor Dale Graunke also will have a challenger in this fall’s election, set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The filing period for local offices closed Aug. 12.

There are a number of seats up for election in the cities of Delano, Loretto, and Montrose, along with the Delano School Board.

City of Delano
There are three seats up for election for the City of Delano, including that of mayor.

Currently serving as mayor is Dale Graunke. This is a four-year term. Graunke has filed for the position, as has Daniel John Gustafson.

The two council seats up for election are those currently served by Derek Schansberg and Dan Vick. Both seats carry four-year terms.

Vick, Ron Drake, Jason Franzen, Larry M. Bartels, Holly A. Schrupp, Sara Beamish, and Elijah Sinkel have filed for city council positions.

Those elected Nov. 4 will begin their duties the first business day of 2015 and continue through the last business day of December 2018.

City of Loretto
There are three seats up for election for the City of Loretto, including that of mayor.

Kent Koch currently serves as mayor, a two-year term. He has filed for the position.

The two council seats up for election are those currently served by John “Archie” Neumann and Tom Pedersen.

Neumann, Pedersen, and Brenda Daniels have filed for city council.

City of Montrose
There are three seats up for election for the City of Montrose, including that of mayor.

Roy Henry is the current mayor. He was appointed to the position upon the resignation of former mayor Scott Czanstkowski in 2013. The remaining two years of the initial four-year term will be filled at the election this fall.

Henry has filed for the mayor position, as has Ben Kuehl, Michelle Otto, and Greg Youmans.

The two council seats up for election are those of Mark Krotzer and Kuehl. These are four-year terms.

Melissa Gudvangen, Armando Hernandez, Chris McGill, Jillayne Menard, Robert “Kirby” Moynagh, John T. Peterson, and Bru Ploog have filed for the council positions.

Delano Public School Board
Four four-year positions on the Delano School Board are up for election this fall. The seats are held by Carolyn Milano, Corey Black, Lisa Seguin, and Mark Larson.

All have filed for the positions.
