HOWARD LAKE, MNHoward Lake City Council and city staff have discussed the condition of the community room and ladies’ restroom above the library, and have determined some cosmetic repairs are needed, according to City Administrator Nick Haggenmiller.
Items being considered include new countertops in the buffet area, bathroom stalls and sinks in the ladies’ restroom, paint, curtains, and furniture.
The countertops are warping and coming apart, and the ladies’ restroom has the same issue.
No formal action has been taken at this point, but the city council, Haggenmiller, and public works staff inspected the condition of the community room during Tuesday’s workshop.
Mayor Pete Zimmerman and Councilman Tom Kutz agreed that the community room could use a makeover.
Haggenmiller and the public works staff have determined the project will cost about $2,000 based on estimates acquired so far, but plan to get more estimates before formally presenting a recommendation to the council, he said.
The public works staff has painted the lower half of the walls in the main area of the community room already, and the upper half of the walls are in good shape, according to Haggenmiller.
A time line for the proposed renovations has not been established.
