HOWARD LAKE, MN The Howard Lake Municipal Liquor Store will have a full menu beginning Thursday, April 3.
The idea began when Manager Myra Laway and City Administrator Nick Haggenmiller decided to try a new oven that cooks food fast, maintains food quality, and reduces costs.
Laway used her creativity, intuition, and ideas from customers to begin experimenting with different dishes.
“We wanted original muni recipes, and more than appetizers for our lunch crowd,” Laway commented.
The food trials resulted in a new menu with unique items, including:
• the “sweetie myz” wrap that features the Howard Lake Municipal’s own bleu cheese and raspberry dressing;
• a south shore black bean wrap prepared with chicken, lettuce, cheese, and the Howard Lake Municipal’s southern black bean pico;
• an Italian melt;
• a pretzel club sandwich;
• a chicken chimichanga;
• breakfast pizzas;
• a chicken parmasean roll-out; and more.
The new menu features daily lunch specials, and a pizza punch promotion, in which customers get a free pizza with the purchase of 10 pizzas.
There are new burger baskets on the menu priced between $5 and $6.75 that come with Tater Tots.
Laway is hoping to add soup to the menu soon, she said.
“We are not just a liquor store.” Laway said. “Kids are welcome until 8 p.m.; and we have inexpensive and quick lunch items.”
