Mowers and More is ready for business in Lester Prairie

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Is your snowblower ready for the upcoming season? If not, now’s the time to take it to Mowers and More in Lester Prairie, a new shop specializing in small engine repair.

Owner Jeremy Mullery began the business in April, and he is looking forward to growing his client base.

“I’m starting out, so I want to keep my prices lower,” he said, adding that quality is also a priority. “I will get it done right the first time.”

Jeremy graduated from Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie in 2012 with a degree in marine motorsports technology. His skills include maintenance and repair services on lawn mowers, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and other small engines.

Jeremy and his wife, Jackie, moved to Lester Prairie in June 2013 to be closer to family.

“I like being in smaller towns,” Jeremy said, adding that Lester Prairie is a good place to raise a family.

Jeremy and Jackie have two sons – Nathan, 3, and Colton, 21 months – who stay with their dad while Jackie works in Minnetonka.

“I like having my own business, and being able to set my own hours,” Jeremy said. “I get to work from home and be with my kids.”

They boys are little yet, but they’ve already shown an interest in the family business.

“They like using the hose to help wash everything,” Jeremy said.

For Jeremy, small engines became an interest when he turned 16 and had the opportunity to drive them. When he attended school to learn repair/maintenance skills, he remembers thinking, “I love this.”

Unfortunately, Jeremy’s driving is limited to small engines – he can’t drive a car due to a vision condition called optic atrophy.

“I’m legally blind,” he said.

Jeremy hasn’t let this challenge stand in the way of his business, however, and he uses cameras to help him see the tiny pieces.

His goal for the next year is to “be able to keep working and make extra money for the family.”

Mowers and More is located at 29 Oak St. N in Lester Prairie. To drop off a small engine Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., call (320) 613-6363.
