DELANO, MN – Old-Fashioned Christmas weekend will be kicked off with a little “Blue Christmas,” as Elvis tribute artist Anthony Shore and his band take the stage at Delano American Legion at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, for a Delano Area Chamber of Commerce event.

“The DACC is really excited to bring Anthony Shore back to the Delano community for a special Christmas event,” DACC Executive Director Ryan Gueningsman said. “Anthony is one of the top Elvis tribute artists in the area.”

The event will follow the annual Christmas tree lighting and precede the annual Old-Fashioned Christmas event Saturday, Dec. 5, in downtown Delano.

Shore cited a local connection in bringing him to the area.

“I’m coming to Delano as I know Pete Johnson through his fantastic drumming,” Shore said. “Pete has played on a number of different shows with me throughout the last few years. I also asked Pete to produce my new Christmas CD for me, as he has a great love and knowledge of Elvis.”

Johnson will be playing in the show, and said it will be a ‘70s-style Elvis concert with three or four Christmas songs.

“Elvis fans know the different between ‘50s Elvis and ‘70s Elvis,” Johnson said.

Before Shore takes the stage, his band, the TCB Apprentices will perform.

“We have really amazing backup singers,” Johnson said. “They’ll sing the opening set. That will be classic, recognizable pop music.”

In addition to Johnson, Delano native Matt Graunke will also be part of the band.

Gueningsman is familiar with Shore and many of his band members, and believes it will be an entertaining show.

“A few of us from the DACC had the opportunity to see him at a private event this spring, and folks who attend this show won’t be disappointed with the caliber of performance Anthony and his band bring to the stage,” Gueningsman said.

He also noted that the DACC is working with local businesses to offer specials the evening of Dec. 4 for those who show a ticket stub from the concert before or after the event.

“One of the biggest promotions is GrandStay Hotel and Suites in Delano offering 20 percent off room rates for those wishing to stay in town Friday, Dec. 4, following the concert, and then check out the Old-Fashioned Christmas event Saturday,” Gueningsman said. This is a great way for the Chamber to not only host a community event, but to promote patronizing local businesses the entire weekend.”

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
