MONTROSE, MN An “opening soon” sign has come down and a “now open” sign has gone up at Dollar General, which opened Aug. 24, at 631 Nelson Blvd. (Highway 12) in Montrose.
A grand opening will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, with free prizes and special deals.
The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card, and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.
The 9,100-square-foot building with more than 7,000 square feet of retail space offers a selection of national name brands and private brands of food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel, and health and beauty products.
Seasonal products are displayed in the center of the store, with coolers in the front of the store, and signage directing shoppers to various departments.
“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. “We hope our Montrose customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”
Dollar General spokeswoman Mary Kathryn Patterson explained the rationale behind expanding to Montrose.
“Meeting our customers’ needs is our top priority when choosing store locations,” Patterson said. “We look for places where we can offer customers an easy and affordable shopping choice. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors and traffic patterns into consideration. We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three- to five-mile radius or 10-minute drive.”
Traditionally, Dollar General stores are staffed by a full-time store manager, assistant manager, a lead sales associate, and three to seven part-time employees. Anyone interested in joining the Dollar General team may visit the career section at www.dollargeneral.com.
