HOWARD LAKE, MN – Howard Lake City Council approved a contract with City Administrator Nick Haggenmiller during its Nov.3 meeting.

Haggenmiller had been serving as interim city administrator since October 6.

The new contract places Haggenmiller at grade 8, step 9 on the pay scale, with an annual salary of $77,846.

The council also agreed that Haggenmiller would start with 40 hours of banked vacation time when the contract was signed.

The contract includes a six-month probation period. Haggenmiller will receive a performance review at the end of that period.

Al Munson, who serves on the personnel committee with Mayor Pete Zimmerman, said they tried to keep the new salary in line with what the city paid City Administrator Jennifer Nash, who held the position briefly, and what Haggenmiller’s previous salary was when he was previously employed by the city.

Odds and ends

In other business, the council:

• approved the route and police assistance for the Turkey Tag-Along 5K run taking place Thanksgiving Day. The route will be the same as the past two years.

• accepted a $650 donation from the Maple Lake Lions.
