Lester Prairie School Board approves maximum levy

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Lester Prairie School Board approved the maximum tax levy for 2016 during Thursday’s meeting. The final numbers won’t be available until the December board meeting.

The board scheduled the district’s annual Truth in Taxation public hearing Monday, Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. to provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and comment on the proposed budget and levy.

In other business, the board:

• approved contracts, including Dave Marquardt, junior high boys’ basketball; Dave Klitzke, spelling and geography bee coordinator; Steven Beckman, junior varsity baseball coach and C-squad boys’ basketball coach; Mike Bjork, science fair coordinator, assistant track coach, and trapshooting coach; Janelle Afrasiab, junior high girls basketball and junior high softball coach; Ross Scheevel, asst. girl’s basketball coach; Mike Lee, head girls’ basketball coach; William Neubarth, varsity softball coach; Kelly Elling, junior varsity softball coach; Rob Weber, head track coach; Patrick Cole, assistant trapshooting coach; Katie Carmine, FPS coordinator and Knowledge Bowl coordinator; Paige Aldrich, high school student council advisor; Rachel Kraemer, G/T enrichment supervisor; Genevieve Jeurissen, Kids’ Depot worker; Alyssa Silvers, Kids’ Depot coordinator; Jessica Fiecke, cook’s helper; Kristi Schmidt, lunch room computer operator; Diane Holsapple, lunch room computer operator; Joe Scoblic, dean of students; and Don Whitaker, assistant boys’ basketball coach.

• approved a letter of intent agrement with New Energy Equity for a community solar garden for Lester Prairie Schools. The next step will be approval of a subscription agreement.
