LESTER PRAIRIE, MN Lester Prairie’s trail committee is continuing to raise funds and make plans for development of the Dakota Rail Regional Trail.
The donation total, as of last week, was $26,411, according to committee member Mary Behrens.
She noted that because donations have already exceeded the $20,000 goal set by the committee for Phase 1 of the project, the committee will be presenting plans for Phase 2 to the city council for approval during its Tuesday, Aug. 11 meeting.
Phase 1 will involve improving the trail surface from Carver County to McLeod County Road 9.
Phase 2 will involve improving the trail surface from County Road 9 west into Lester Prairie.
The committee is also working on plans for a trail grand opening once the trail is open for use.
