LESTER PRAIRIE, MN A lack of available housing for senior citizens has been a topic of discussion in Lester Prairie for several years.
Residents who wish to remain in the city, but who are approaching the time when they may no longer wish to maintain their own single-family homes, or who may no longer be able to do so, have asked the city to address this.
The city council has reached out to companies in the past, but so far without results.
During the council’s May 10 meeting, Economic Development Coordinator Adam Birkholz told the council told the council he has recently been engaged in discussions with an organization that may potentially develop, own, and operate a senior living facility in the city.
Birkholz said the organization is “very excited” about developing a project in Lester Prairie.
Currently, the organization is looking at sites and putting together a preliminary plan.
