LESTER PRAIRIE, MN PolyFoam in Lester Prairie, an expanded polystyrene (EPS) molding plant, has been owned by Robert and Joyce Humboldt since 1988.
Recently, the Humboldts decided to retire, and sold the company to PFB Corporation of Calgary, Canada.
“The Humboldts looked for someone to keep the company in Lester Prairie, keep jobs in town, and keep the company moving forward,” PolyFoam Vice President of Finance and Administration Bill Rogers said.
The company, which is now called Plasti-Fab EPS Product Solutions, was purchased Dec. 15, 2015, and plant operation continued through the transition period.
“I was semi-retired prior to the purchase, but agreed to work part time and help with the acquisition,” Rogers noted. “My retirement was planned prior to any idea of ownership change.”
Besides Rogers, all of PolyFoam’s employees who wished to continue employment at the site were re-hired as Plasti-Fab EPS employees.
“The small-town service with attention to detail will remain the same,” Plasti-Fab EPS Vice President of Manufacturing David Karels noted. “Additional capabilities with extended construction-related products will be added.”
The company will continue EPS molding, and possibly add a few more products to its list.
“Existing customers of the facility can expect a continuation of historical product lines and services, plus the addition of product lines introduced by Plasti-Fab,” PFB Chief Operating Officer Bruce Carruthers stated. “This is very exciting news as we continue our initiative to manufacture Plasti-Fab EPS Product Solutions in the USA.”
PFB Corporation has locations in the US and Canada, which develop, manufacture, and market insulation building products and technologies based on EPS technologies.
It is also involved in engineered geotechnical applications of its products.
PFB Corporation has been in the EPS industry for more than 47 years, and produces products that are used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
