MONTICELLO, MN Mike Bauer, of Bauer Design Build in Delano, received the Wright County Economic Development Partnership Outstanding Citizen of the Year at the WCEDP annual meeting Friday in Monticello.
“I’m very honored to receive this award today,” Bauer said.
He thanked his family and employees for their support.
“With all their support and effort, it makes it a lot easier for me to give back to the community,” Bauer said.
He also credited his parents for instilling positive values in him.
“My parents taught me core values of working hard every day, being honest, always doing what you say you’re going to do, and looking out for your neighbors and friends,” Bauer said.
Bauer is involved in many causes at the local and county level.
He is a Community Health Foundation of Wright County board member and was a major donor to help build the first end-of-life hospice facility in Wright County.
For 10 years, he has been an active member of the Delano Lions, including two terms as president.
He has served in varying capacities with Boy Scouts, and is a major donor to the organization.
He is also a business investor in the Wright Tech CEO program.
Other organizations Bauer supports include Delano High School Project Lead the Way, Delano Hockey Association, Delano Baseball Association, Delano-Loretto United Way, Delano Booster Club, Delano trap team, Delano PIE, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever.
Bauer also spearheaded building two concession buildings in Central Park with the Delano Lions, and dedicated and donated staff to manage and coordinate a new sanitation facility in the park.
“Mike has exposed me to a host of activities in which he is involved in order to impact the community and Wright County,” Kevin Carver wrote when nominating Bauer. “. . . Mike is kind, generous, a mentor, and well respected by his employees and clients. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the recognition of Wright County Citizen of the Year.”
