HOWARD LAKE, MN A new business that was recently started in downtown Howard Lake got a boost from the Howard Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
Andy Snaza, owner of Shores of Minnesota, accepted a $1,000 grant check from Howard Lake Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Schoess.
Snaza will use the grant to purchase additional scanning equipment to print logos on custom apparel, expanding his product line.
The grant was the first given to a new business as part of a new business development initiative started by the chamber.
The chamber will present two grant awards in 2016, from $250 to $1,000 each.
The purpose of the grants is to encourage new business growth and development.
The next grant application deadline is Thursday, June 30.
Grant applications will be judged on the following criteria:
• grant funds will increase business exposure;
• grant funds will increase business capacity;
• grant funds will positively impact city and surrounding businesses; and
• plans for spending grant funds are clearly defined.
Guidelines and applications are available on the chamber’s website. Follow the link at www.heraldjournal.com.
