DELANO, MN – When the opportunity to work in an Edward Jones office in Delano arose, Joe Tackaberry took it.

After working for Edward Jones for more than a year, Tackaberry was planning to open an Edward Jones office in Watertown.

“That was still the plan until right before Christmas,” Tackaberry said. “The company asked me if I had any interest in coming to the Delano office, and I did. I was excited. This is where I want to be.”

Tackaberry was born and raised in Delano, and has lived in the area his entire life.

“I’ve never had a permanent residence more than 10 miles away,” Tackaberry said.

After graduating from Delano High School in 2001, Tackaberry attended St. John’s University, where he earned a business management degree.

He used that degree as operations manager at what was then Star West Honda for a year and a half, before going on to operate equipment as a working foreman for six years.

As he decided he wanted to make a career change, he struggled to find the right fit, until he had an chance to speak with representatives from Edward Jones.

“I took that opportunity to ask some questions about how they did business,” Tackaberry said. “I liked what I heard, sent in my resume, and got an interview.”

During that process, Tackaberry met with a longtime Edward Jones financial advisor, who helped confirm the company was right for him.

“I wanted to be in a business where you could truly build that personal relationship and have an effect on people’s lives,” Tackaberry said. “I asked if he could give me an idea and explain that to me. He just started telling me stories about people coming into his office after they found out they had major life changes and asked him to take care of their family. This guy almost had me in tears telling me these stories (and I knew) this is where I want to be. This is where I can make a difference.”

The fact that Edward Jones is an employee-owned business also appealed to Tackaberry.

“What better way to find a group of people who genuinely care than when everyone has a reason to be invested in the company? That’s kind of what drew me to Edward Jones,” Tackaberry said.

Edward Jones’ investments and services include annuities; business retirement plans; education savings plans; equity investments; estate and trust services; fixed-income investments; individual retirement accounts; life, long-term care, and long-term disability insurance; mutual funds; research; and solutions for saving, spending, and borrowing.

Tackaberry wants to not only provide services, but also build relationships with his clients.

“The better relationship we can build, the more we’ll be able to get accomplished,” Tackaberry said.

He said the best part of his job is “truthfully knowing that you’ve been able to help someone.”

He also wants to be involved in the community.

“I feel we can be very active in the community and have an impact on the community,” Tackaberry said. “Our goal, over time, is to become a pillar in the community.”

Tackaberry is a member of the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce and the Watertown Chamber of Commerce.

His office is located at 725 Babcock Blvd. Suite 2 in Delano, and he can be reached at (763) 972-3990.
