ROCKFORD TOWNSHIP, MN A family was displaced, and the community has responded, following a Jan. 6 Rockford Township fire.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:13 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call of a fire at 1046 30th St. SE.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, five adults and two children were in the house at the time of the fire and were able to escape without injury.
The Buffalo Fire Department is investigating the fire, which appears to have started in the porch area near an electrical outlet.
The Delano, Montrose, and Rockford fire departments provided mutual aid.
Firefighters were on scene until 10 p.m., were called back at 3 a.m., and remained on scene until 8 a.m.
Following the fire, several individuals reached out to help the Martinson family, who was displaced by the fire.
A post in the Buffalo MN Community Posts Facebook group garnered more than 50 comments from people looking to help.
A gofundme page has been established at www.gofundme.com/help-family-in-need-after-housefire to raise money for the family.
“This family does everything for everyone else and now I’m reaching out for others to pay it forward and return the favor to help this family in need!” wrote neighbor Kayla Hawke, who established the gofundme page.
As of press time, about $4,200 of a $5,000 goal had been raised.
