HOWARD LAKE, MN A Howard Lake man suffered serious injuries in a crash with a Wright County Highway Department dump truck driven by a Montrose man in Albion Township the morning of June 22.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, at about 11:40 a.m. Thursday, a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup driven by Lucas James Meinstad Klages, 23, of Howard Lake, was northbound on Wright County Road 7 when it failed to yield at a stop sign and continued into the path of a 2009 International dump truck that was eastbound on County Road 35.
The front of the International struck the left side of the S10.
Klages, who was the lone occupant of the S10, was transported to North Memorial Hospital by North Air Care for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the International, James Timothy Casari, 39, of Montrose, was not injured.
The sheriff’s office reported there was no indication of drug or alcohol use. It is unknown if Klages was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Wright County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Maple Lake Fire and Rescue, Maple Lake Ambulance, and Allina Ambulance.
