DASSEL, MN Dassel Elementary is getting ready for another school year, and that includes installing a fire suppression system and new lighting.
The project started June 4, and is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 24.
The fire suppression system was added in correlation with state requirement, following the school’s addition of kindergarten classrooms in 2014.
New lighting was added to keep up with building maintenance.
“Dassel Elementary is a mature building with spunk,” stated Dassel Elementary principal Debbie Morris, “so our ceilings and lighting needed attention.”
She added, “[It’s] so important that we continue to address its aging needs to keep it functioning for many years to come.”
School funds covered the project’s costs.
“The crews have been working non-stop to ensure top safety, quality, and professional presentation,” Morris commented, adding that the work is almost to the point where school staff can take it over.
“The staff will be ready to roll in order to have the building up and running by the start of school,” Morris stated.
The first day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Dassel Elementary’s open house will take place Thursday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. For the school’s recommended supplies list, follow the featured link at www.dasselcokato.com.
