HOWARD LAKE A house on the west side of Lake Ann in Howard Lake is considered a total loss after a fire Jan. 20.
Property owners Jim and Cathy Carrabre were home at the time, but were able to get out with no injuries, according to Howard Lake Fire Chief Daryl Drush. The status of pets that were in the house at the time is unknown.
The Howard Lake Fire Department was paged to the fire (at 9100 Huber Ave. SW) at 7:23 a.m. Jan. 20. Also assisting were the fire departments of Lester Prairie, Cokato, Waverly, Montrose, Winsted, and New Germany, as well as the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Cokato Ambulance, Howard Lake Ambulance, and Ridgeview Ambulance Service.
Drush stated that firefighters were on scene until 3:40 p.m. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
A GoFundMe site has been set up at www.gofundme.com/carrabres-recovery to help the Carrabre family. The site states that the dwelling was home to a family of six, and that the only belongings the family has are the clothes they were wearing the morning of the fire. As of Wednesday afternoon, people had donated $1,710 through the site. The goal is $10,000.
