LESTER PRAIRIE, MN Lester Prairie City Council, during Tuesday’s meeting, authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute a purchase agreement for a fire engine at a cost of $557,351 to replace the city’s current 1981 engine.
Bergen and Winsted Townships had not yet approved the purchase at the time of the meeting.
The cost share formula is broken down as follows: City of Lester Prairie, 58.60 percent; Bergen Township, 24.14 percent; and Winsted Township, 17.26 percent.
The financing term for the purchase is seven years.
The estimated delivery time of the engine would be April or May 2019.
Odds and ends
In other business, the council:
• approved the purchase of playground equipment for the Second Ave. South park at a cost of $84,641.
• approved zoning ordinance changes rezoning certain properties in the B1 business district to R1, single or two-family dwellings.
• approved moving forward with a project to rehabilitate portions of the sewer system with cured-in-place sewer pipe (CIPP). The bid opening was scheduled for Tuesday, April 3, and construction is expected to take place this summer.
