DELANO, MN – While high school hockey teams take the ice outdoors in St. Cloud for Hockey Day Minnesota Saturday, Jan. 20, Delano’s Central Park will also be hosting outdoor hockey.

It’s part of Puck in the Park, a two-day hockey extravaganza the Delano Jaycees are organizing for the second year in a row.

The event will kick off with kids open skate night from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with Minnesota Wild mascot Nordy there from 6 to 6:45 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5 to meet Nordy.

That event will also feature music by DJ Adam Wells and a variety of games, food, and beverages.

Saturday, Jan. 20, will be a busy day.

The Youth Mites Jamboree will kick off events from 9 to 11 a.m.

Kids games and activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Teams will compete in the main event – the adult hockey tournament – from noon to 10 p.m.

From 1:30 to 4 p.m., there will be a bean bag tournament.

To register for the hockey or bean bag tournament, visit www.puckinthepark.com.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a dinner of pork chops, rosemary garlic red potatoes, a bun, and brownie from 5 to 7 p.m. Discounted tickets are available in advance for $10 from Coborn’s and Minnesota Lakes Bank. Tickets at the event will be $12.

The White Keys will close out the event with live musical entertainment inside the heated tent from 8 p.m. to midnight. The White Keys feature piano and drums, and play a wide variety of cover songs from the 1960s through the 2000s. A $5 donation is suggested to help cover the cost of the band.
