HOWARD LAKE, MN The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed a brief EF-1 tornado touchdown just southwest of Howard Lake at 9:47 p.m. Sept. 2.
An EF-1 tornado is classified as moderate, and involves winds of 86 to 110 mph. The tornado near Howard Lake included estimated peak winds of 90 mph.
According to the NWS, the path length was 1.1 miles, and the maximum width was 90 yards. No injuries were reported.
The tornado damaged three properties, with two barns heavily damaged, and a private residence with shingles ripped off. Numerous trees were also damaged along the path of the tornado.
The NWS also confirmed a tornado touchdown east of Watertown Sept. 2.
