STRIVE Therapy Services opens new Dassel location
Aug. 9, 2019

DASSEL, MN – Dassel’s STRIVE Therapy Services offers occupational and speech therapy for children and adults, in order to help them develop the skills and obtain the support necessary for successful independent living.

Jaime Plamann and her husband, Gary, started STRIVE Therapy in 2012, when they opened their Buffalo location, which employs about 15 therapists. She said, “My husband and I are the owners. He does more of the business management piece, and I do the therapy.”

Plamann has practiced occupational therapy for 16 years, after earning her master’s degree from the University of North Dakota in 2003.

STRIVE’s Dassel location opened April of this year, and is looking to hire an additional occupational therapist, as well as a speech therapist.

STRIVE works with individuals of all ages, from infancy through adulthood. Explaining some of the occupational therapy services they provide for children, Plamann said, “We work on things such as helping the kids learn how to dress themselves, learn how to play with their peers, try different food textures, craft activities, motor planning, anxiety, lots and lots of things.”

Sessions are usually about an hour long, and end with a parent meeting to discuss progress. STRIVE also provides parents with home programming to help outside of therapy.

Plamann loves working with individuals in occupational therapy. She said one of her favorite parts of the job is, “When they start to be able to do things on their own, and they’re like, ‘I did it!’ It’s that excitement that it brings to them.”

Plamann mentioned that children who qualify for therapy services through school will likely qualify for private therapy, as well. “Many of our parents have come to us saying ‘we didn’t know that we could also get private services,’ or they were getting it at school, and ‘we didn’t realize it was only 15 minutes a week.’ That’s a big misconception of school vs. private.” Plamann also said that STRIVE’s therapists work with school therapists and teachers to provide the best services for children.

STRIVE is currently offering free occupational and speech therapy screenings. Parents can call 320-640-7774 to inquire or set up an appointment. Almost all insurances are accepted.

STRIVE Therapy Services is located at 201 Atlantic Ave. West in Dassel. They are open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information, call 320-640-7774 or click on the featured link at www.dasselcokato.com.
