COKATO, MN Cokato City Administrator Annita Smythe’s last day on the job is today, Friday, Jan. 10.
Smythe has served as Cokato’s city administrator since January 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, she was employed as the city administrator in Hanover.
Smythe confirmed that Monday, Jan. 13, she will assume the dual role of Clearwater city administrator and director of the Clearwater/Clear Lake Joint Sewer Authority.
The Cokato City Council has met in special sessions to discuss how to proceed with filling the city administrator position.
“Because of the number of large projects in progress right now the wastewater upgrade, the solar garden project, the city center road project, and the MnDOT overlay project the city council is planning to bring in an interim to keep those projects moving ahead while they search for a permanent replacement,” Smythe said.
A job description for the interim position may be found in the Enterprise Dispatch, on the City of Cokato’s website, and on the League of Minnesota Cities’ job board.
Smythe said the job posting was also sent to a number of people who currently work in similar positions.
As of Monday, the city had received two applications for the interim position. The job posting closes Friday, Jan. 24.
Smythe said the city council intends to have an interim administrator in place by early February.
