Conspiracy theorists question septic

From: James Ische and Tim Lynch, Carver County Commissioners

In June of 2008, Carver County acquired the Lake Waconia Event Center as an important addition to the 100-plus acre Lake Waconia Regional Park. The property has been included in the county’s park master plan for over 30 years.

The Lake Waconia Regional Park is one of Carver County’s greatest assets and is a gem for the west side of the metro and the state as a whole.

The county board made the decision to purchase this property from a willing seller, with funds that will be reimbursed by the Metropolitan Council, for the enjoyment of all county residents for many years to come.

Carver County has also made a commitment to keep this community and economic asset operating and to continue its legacy, in unison with the wide spread support of the local community.

For whatever reason, a small group of conspiracy theorists continue to question the purchase of the event center and a septic system that is on the property.

But the facts have been presented and remain the same – the septic system passed its inspection. The inspection was conducted by a licensed professional and showed that the system passed.

The county has followed the same requirements that everyone else is required to pass. The county went even further to test the water in Lake Waconia, and found that the system is not polluting the lake.

A number of county resources have been expended to validate that the system has passed inspection and the county needs to stop wasting taxpayer money on chasing a conspiracy. We are hopeful this political squall has not tainted the reputation of one of the area’s most historic and greatest assets in the Lake Waconia Regional Park and Event Center.
