Say ‘no’ to Obama Care
From: Joan Neururer

The proponents of Obama Care are not letting the facts get in the way of their political ideology.
They don’t answer questions at town hall meetings; in fact, many won’t allow anyone to ask questions that aren’t pro Obama Care. Others refuse to even have town hall meetings.
Most of the proponents of Obama Care admit that they haven’t even read the bill (maybe that is why they don’t want to talk to their constituents). That is why they can’t determine between fact and mythology associated with the bill. They want the bill, even though they don’t have the facts straight.
Fact: Republicans and some Democrats tried to amend the House bill to include exclusion for abortion. The amendment didn’t pass, leaving the bill open for interpretation in the courts.
The courts in three states have already ruled that abortion must be covered, since it wasn’t excluded in state health plans. Obama Care will cover abortion.
Fact: The death panel is in the bill. Liberals have denied it was there, and then, Obama said it was taken out. Finally, Nancy Pelosi said it wouldn’t be taken out.
The language in that portion of the bill is scary. There will be a panel that, in essence, will decide who is worthy of expensive treatment (hip replacement, cancer treatment, heart treatment, etc.). There will also be state-paid workers that will council senior citizens in end-of-life decision-making. Seniors will be required to have this meeting every five years and whenever there is a change in their health status.
Fact: Today, government mandates that illegal immigrants must be cared for in our hospitals. That is one of the reasons health care costs are so high in America. Citizens foot the bill for immigrants by paying higher costs for their care. Do you really think our government will suddenly stop providing health care for illegal immigrants?
Fact: Pre-existing conditions are covered under current insurance regulations, but there is a six-month waiting period before the insurance kicks in. No one would carry insurance until they were sick or hurt if this weren’t the case.
Fact: The proposed public option would create serious, public-funded competition for private companies, thereby running private companies out of business.
Fact: Medicare and Medicaid are hurting our health care industry and bankrupting our country. Medicare pays doctors and hospitals 83 cents on the dollar for the cost of procedures. The private sector makes up the balance.
The Obama administration and the liberals in congress should recognize that conservatives would not compromise because they know that in order to make health care more affordable, we must:
• Initiate TORT reform and have reasonable caps on law suites.
• Eliminate government mandates to insurance companies.
• Curb illegal immigration.
• Initiate health care savings accounts that carry over from year to year.
• Allow citizens to shop for the insurance plans best suited to their needs, even in states other then the one in which they reside.
Fact: We should all be very afraid of this major change to our health care industry. Medicare has been a financial disaster and is going bankrupt. Do we need another government-run plan hurting the best health care system in the world?
Our neighbors to the north have a health care system much like the one proposed by congress. Their health care system is imploding. There are long waits for treatment. Sometimes, patients wait months for treatments that are treated as emergencies in America.
Canadians have higher death rates in cancer and heart patients. The people who can afford it come to America for treatments.
If President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of the liberals think this plan is so good, why aren’t they required to have the same plan? The Constitution says that congress may not enact laws which do not include themselves.
Call your congressional representatives and tell them to write a bill that covers all government employees, including the president, or to leave our health care alone. We won’t be forced into a plan that they will not embrace for themselves.
If you are concerned about the direction the Obama administration is taking the health care debate, go to billbennet.com and sign the health care petition. The petition will be sent to congress Wednesday, Sept. 9.
