Teach children to be respectful

From: April Olson
Winsted

I am writing this letter in hopes that the parents of the children I will be mentioning, read it.

Two family members of mine were recently buried out at Swan Lake Cemetery, near the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, outside of Dassel. This past weekend marked the 30th birthday of one of my family members, and her five children (all very young, under the age of 10) and her husband and family went out there to clean up the grave site, plant some flowers, and celebrate her birthday.

In addition, Sunday, my uncle went out to visit his father, who had just been buried there a few days earlier. While out there, he was harassed by young members of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

They yelled rude comments at him and harassed him repeatedly while he was at the grave site of his father. They ran around the fresh graves of my family members, stomping the flowers and dirt and being nuisances.

These children and their parents should be ashamed! My children and I are not regular church goers, but my children know better than to ever do something so disrespectful and rude!

I hope that when my family goes out to their loved ones’ graves in the future, they are left alone to mourn and visit in peace.
