Cranberry Cake with Hot Butter Sauce
3 T. butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 cup flour
1 cup milk
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3 cups raw cranberries
Beat together butter, sugar, flour, milk, baking powder and salt. Fold in cranberries. Spread batter in a greased 8-in square baking pan. Bake 350°, 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm with following sauce.
Hot butter sauce
Hot Butter Sauce
1 cup sugar
1 T flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup cream
1 T. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine sugar and flour. In saucepan, add butter, cream, vinegar and combined sugar mixture. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring well. Add vanilla. Serve warm.Mix sugar and flour. Add to butter, cream and vinegar in saucepan. Heating, beating well over medium high heat until hot and bubbly Add vanilla and serve warm over cranberry squares.
Your own hard sauce recipe may be substituted.
