Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
1 cup flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 T. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
2 T. shortening, melted
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water
Combine flour, granulated, sugar, 2 tablespoon cocoa, baking powder, salt. Blend in milk and shortening, add nuts.
Pour into ungreased 9x9-inch square pan. Stir together brown sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over batter.
Bake 350°, 45 minutes. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
Option: Doubling the cocoa amount in both the batter and topping is an option to intensify the chocolate flavor.
