1 box German chocolate cake mix
14 ounce bag caramels, unwrapped
5 oz. can evaporated milk
2 T. butter or margarine
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare cake mix according to directions.
Pour 1/2 batter into greased 9x13" cake pan. Bake 15 minutes. While cake is baking, melt caramels with milk and butter. Pour mixture over partially baked cake. Spread evenly.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips and 1/2 cup pecans. Pour remaining cake batter over top, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with remaining pecans. Bake 30-40 minutes until center is set. Cool before slicing.
