Applesauce Muffins

1 cup butter or margarine, softened

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups applesauce

4 cups flour

2 tsp. soda

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. allspice

1/2 tsp. cloves

1 cup walnuts, optional

Cinnamon-sugar, optional

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir in applesauce. Combine flour, baking soda and spices; stir into creamed mixture. Fold in nuts.

Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
