Pear Bread
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup yogurt or sour cream
1 cup coarsely chopped fresh pears with skins on (about 2-3)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Cream together margarine and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine the dry ingredients; then add to egg mixture, alternating with yogurt. Stir in pears, vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake in a 350° oven for 1 hour. Do not underbake. Turn onto a rack to cool.
