Bavarian Apple Torte

1/2 cup margarine

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 tsp. vanilla

1 cup flour

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1/2 tsp. vanilla

4 thinly sliced apples

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 cup almonds

Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour; mix well.

Spread dough onto bottom and 1 1/2 inches high around sides of 9-inch springform pan.

Combine cream cheese and sugar, mixing until blended. Add egg and vanilla. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

Toss apples with combined sugar and cinnamon. Spoon apple mixture over cheese layer, sprinkle with nuts.

Bake 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce to 375° - 350° and bake for 25-30 minutes, until apples poke soft. Loosen cake from sides of pan. Cool. Remove from pan and chill.
