Italian Shepherd's Pie

1 unbaked pastry shell, 9-inches

1 lb. bulk Italian sausage

1 cup cottage cheese

1 egg

1 1/2 cups warm mashed potatoes, without added milk and butter

1/4 cup sour cream

1/2 tsp. oregano

1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

2 tsp. margarine or butter

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Line pastry shell with foil. Bake 450° for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and remove foil. Reduce heat to 350°. In skillet cook sausage and drain well. In food processor beat egg and cottage cheese until smooth. Combine with potatoes, sour cream, oregano, salt and pepper. Place sausage in pastry shell. Top with potato mixture. Drizzle with butter. Bake 50-60 minutes or until set. Sprinkle with cheese. Return to oven until cheese is melted.
