Taco Casserole

2 pounds ground beef

1 cup onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cans, 15 oz. tomato sauce

1 package taco seasoning

1 can kidney beans

12 oz. package corn chips

8 oz. corn tortilla chips or nachos

2 cups shredded cheese

Heat oven to 350°. Brown ground beef, onion and garlic; drain. Add tomato sauce and taco seasoning. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir in kidney beans with liquid. Layer half of meat sauce, corn chips, and cheese in shallow 2 quart baking dish. Repeat layers, ending with cheese. Bake 350° 35-45 minutes. If desired served with lettuce and desired assorted toppings mounded over baked mixture. 8-10 servings.
