It just isn’t summer without heading to the county fair to enjoy rides, games and, of course, savory fair food.
Howard Lake is home of the Wright County Fair, which takes place in late July and early August north on County Road 6.
The exotic animals petting zoo, silly pig races, rock wall climbing, 4-H shows and demonstrations, midway rides and activities, along with the delicious fair food, are among the favorites that can be experienced every day at the fair.
The fair can also be a fun day at the farm with an array of farm animals, including horses, cows, pigs, goats, rabbits and more.
Also, the Fairest of the Fair coronation brings in a crowd along with numerous visiting royalty from all over the state of Minnesota.
Coronation takes place on the opening evening of the fair with an array of single women, ages 17-25, competing from around the county for the crown.
For car smashing maniacs, the fair offers its demolition derby and can be seen Friday and Sunday nights, which even includes the Powder Puff Derby where ladies can have a smashing time as well.
Also, the fair offers live music and entertainment daily so check the Herald Journal or the Wright County Fair web site at www.wrighcountyfair.com to get the schedule of events.
