Meeker County Fairgrounds the site of new agricultural education and FFA building

Area FFA chapters and the Meeker County Fair Board are looking to the future.

Ground has been broken and construction has begun for a new building located at the Meeker County Fairgrounds, and will be a showcase for the agricultural education programs and FFA chapters in the region.

Additionally, the new building will provide extra space for growth in livestock exhibits.

Animals Inc., with locations in Watkins, Litchfield, Maple Lake, and Kimball, has made a sizable donation to support the new building. Animals Inc. will have the honor of naming the building.

The Meeker County Corn Growers have agreed to support the FFA exhibit areas.

The Meeker County Commissioners recently voted to support the total building project, which will house the FFA children’s barnyard, a very popular attraction at the fair.

Besides the barnyard, the building will include an expanded area for FFA members exhibits, and room for growth in a variety of 4-H, FFA, and open class livestock exhibits.

The building will offer a conference meeting space that will be available to the public, expanded restrooms, and future space to address growing needs of the fair board.

This area has active and growing FFA programs. Many young people – from both town and country, and male or female have grown and developed through involvement with FFA.

Many of those young people and their families continue to support local communities in a variety of ways.

Those wishing to support the expansion of FFA at the Meeker County Fair are welcome to do so. People may give a one-time gift, or a multi-year pledge. Visit for more information.
