Austing is new U of M Extension Educator

I, Adam Austing, am the new University of Minnesota Extension Educator for Wright County.

I will be working with both agriculture and horticulture, as well as serving as the master gardener coordinator for the county’s program.

I grew up on a dairy farm on the north edge of Stearns County, where we milked about 100 Holsteins.

I went to school in Melrose, and later attended North Dakota State University, where I earned a degree in agricultural economics, along with minors in crop and weed science and horticulture.

I spent my last two summers as a crop scout intern and a field research intern with Centra Sota Cooperative and Monsanto Co., respectively.

I have been in an interim role with University of Minnesota Extension since February in Norman County.

In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, and playing or watching sports.

I am looking forward to getting to know Wright County better and all it has to offer.

I am excited to help producers in Wright County continue their success, and support the awesome master gardener program.

The University of Minnesota Extension office in Wright County has many different offerings for community members to take advantage of.

There are many different educational opportunities related to a wide variety of topics offered throughout the year.

The office is also available to help get answers to any questions related to agriculture or horticulture.
