Four file for positions in Howard Lake

In Howard Lake, four people have filed – incumbents Rick Lammers has filed for mayor, and Mike Mitchell for the two-year council seat. For the four-year council seat – incumbents Tom Kutz and Jan Gilmer filed.

Four out of five council positions are up for grabs at the City of Howard Lake. Mitchell’s position is a two-year spot, since he was appointed to fill out Al Munson’s seat when Munson vacated it previously.

Rick Lammers

Why are you running for office?

I am in my first term as mayor of Howard Lake, and I feel the city is headed in the right direction. I wish to continue serving the citizens of this great community.

Howard Lake has a history of 130 years of values and pride, and I enjoy being a part of it as a citizen, and as Howard Lake’s mayor.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

The future of the industrial park and a senior citizen assisted living complex.

Both of these issues are important for the stable growth of this community. I will listen to all concerns and options for these issues and work with our businesses and citizens to ensure that the city will work to make these issues viable.

Why should you be elected?

I wish to continue to serve this community, and ensure that Howard Lake is a great place to live and work.

Tom Kutz

Why are you running for office?

I would like to continue to help make this community a better place to live. I have been on the council for 14 years and want to continue to listen to the citizens about the needs of their community.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

Utility upgrades – try to get them done with the least cost to our citizens.

Municipal Liquor Store – I will try to improve the outcomes of the city’s municipal liquor store by finding ways to increase revenues and decrease cost, so it can remain a viable part of our community.

Why should you be elected?

I feel I should be elected because I feel that I represent the citizens in a way that they can feel comfortable, as I have for the past 14 years.

Why should you be elected?

I’m very interested in the past, prsent and future of Howard Lake.

Jan Gilmer

Why are you running for office?

There is a lot of important, unfinished decisions to be made.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

Howard Lake Liquor Store, Howard Lake Industrial Park, and Howard Lake capital improvements will be resolved one day at a time.

Why should you be elected?

Record will show that I have made wise, commonsense decisions in the past.
