Darwin City Council

Two people have filed for a position on the Darwin City Council, Lee Peterson and Mark Smith.

Lee Peterson

Why are you running for this particular office?

To keep the property taxes low and work on water and sewer projects.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

Property taxes and water and sewer. I am looking forward to not raising any property taxes and working on funding and planning for new water and sewer systems.

Why should you be elected?

I have about 12 years experience in the water and sewer in Darwin and feel this would benefit future projects.

Mark Smith

Why are you running for this particular office?

I feel it is the right time for me to get involved with our local government.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

1. Budget concerns in this economy. I will work with the council to make the best decisions possible for the financial interest of the community.

2. Infrastructure upgrades, particularly the sewer collection system upgrade. We need to work together to continue the process of planning and budgeting for this project.

Why should you be elected?

I feel I can represent the citizens of Darwin to help make decisions in the best interest of this community.
