Hollywood Township Supervisor Seat B

Two people have filed for Supervisor Seat B in Hollywood Township; Ron Kassulker and Elwin Bauer.

Elwin Bauer

Why are you running for office?

Because I feel I would act in the best interest of the majority of the constituents. Being retired, I have the time to research the issues prior to voting.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

1. Wooded acres. I know that there are strong concerns on both sides of this issue. Therefore, my intention would be to find out how many lots are available in the township and research the up side, and the down, before concluding my decision.

On a personal level, I do not have any property that would qualify for wooded acres.

2. Employment. I would like to see that all interested people have a chance to apply and be interviewed for positions when they become available.

Why should you be elected?

Being in business for more than 30 years, I believe I can bring experience and common sense to the table. With owning and operating a business, you learn how to deal with employees and customers with an open mind.

Also, with being retired, I will have the time to spend on issues in more detail. This will make for a more informed decision.

Ron Kassulker

Why are you running for office?

I am running for office because I can make Hollywood Township a great place to raise a family.

I have made decisions that have made Hollywood Township a great township.

I know the tower was a sore spot for some people in the township, but I think the tower is a good asset for the township, as well as the fact that we are part of the emergency communications system of the county and state.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

One of the issues affecting the township is reduced revenue from state and county, as well as reduced revenue from township taxes.

To deal with this issue, the people on the board get the most for our dollars, which we always do. We have cut back on graveling, which we hate to do.

Which brings me to the second isssue – the scarcity of gravel and the high price of gravel. We only haul on areas needed most.

Why should you be elected?

I think I should be elected because my record speaks for itself. I have continued to keep spending down. I always bring a listening ear when there are issues between neighbors, and the board is asked to resolve the issues.

I think my years of experience on the board makes me the best person for the job.

If I am elected, I will continue to serve the township with experience and fiscal responsibilty. Being a lifelong resident of Hollywood Township, I have seen the township change for the good of everyone.
