Hollywood Township Supervisor Seat C

Three people have filed for Supervisor Seat C in Hollywood Township: Jim Burns, Lynn Herrmann, and Curtis Thaemert.

Jim Burns

Why are you running for office?

I am a lifelong resident of Hollywood Township, and I want to give back to the community that has been so good to me. My wife, Becky, and I are raising three boys here, and I hope to continue the responsible management of the township.

Hollywood Township residents have an excellent quality of life, and I want to do what I can to protect it, while leading Hollywood Township into the future.

I have been actively participating in township meetings for the past few years, and I believe that my knowledge and experience will benefit the township.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

The township continues to face complicated problems that will shape our township for years to come.

The first issue is the continued growth and development pressures from suburban sprawl.

Even with the current economic situation, neighboring cities and the metro area will continue to encroach on Hollywood Township. We need to be prepared to handle the pressure that this will put on our infrastructure.

Hollywood Township is predominantly an agricultural community, and as a local farmer, I will help to protect our way of life for future generations.

As we saw with the Carver County 2030 Comprehensive Plan, we need to be vigilant and get involved in the policies and projects that affect our township.

The second issue that faces all government entities is the control of budgets and taxes.

I will continue the fiscally-responsible policies of past township boards and keep a tight rein on spending. The tax levy in Hollywood Township has been under control for decades; I will continue this policy.

Why should you be elected?

The township has been facing complex and sensitive issues for several years. As a local business owner and farmer, my knowledge and experience will be very valuable in helping to continue our fiscally-responsible management of the township.

Hollywood Township needs more active and involved leadership. With my knowledge and experience with current township issues, I am the best candidate for the job.

Lynn Herrmann

Why are you running for office?

I am running for township supervisor because I feel that everyone matters, we could use a change in our township’s communication, and, most importantly, to establish accessible communication among our local citizens.

For example, creating a website letting citizens know of future and occurring issues, updates, and current events, and placing that information in local papers; as well as establish a chamber of commerce link promoting area businesses.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

One of the major issues I’ve encountered needing attention is people being able to voice their opinions on any issues that we may have in the township and being a part of the decision-making process.

Secondly, prevent obscure businesses from taking root in our community, such as the adult usage businesses. These types of businesses would have profound negative influences in Hollywood Township.

Why should you be elected?

I should be elected because I will listen and advocate for the people to make the best decisions for Hollywood Township, and I’ve been a resident for more than 20 years.

Because everyone matters, I want the citizens to know that their opinions and ideas are vital and important. My goal is to make Hollywood Township a great place to live. So, I ask for your support in giving me this opportunity to make a difference for you.

And lastly, I am against wooded lots. I believe we should keep this beautiful township just the way it is.

Curtis Thaemert

Why are you running for office?

I am running for office to see to it that the township government is run with the citizens’ best interest in mind.

I feel that my years of experience is an asset.

What do you think are two major issues at this time, and what do you propose to do about them?

To maintain the roads in our township, and find quality gravel for our roads is a major issue.

Our equipment is in good shape right now, and to keep taxes down in our present economy, we will continue to keep it in good repair.

We want to continue keeping our farm-friendly environment in our township.

Why should you be elected?

I have faithfully served the residents of Hollywood Township for 21 years and would like to continue.

I will do my best to see to it that the concerns of the residents are met. With my position on the board, all corners of the township have representation.
