Bergen Township Clerk

Amy Meyer

Why are you running for Bergen Township clerk?

I am seeking re-election because I’ve enjoyed serving as the township clerk. As the clerk, I’ve had the chance to get to know many township residents, learn about township government, help to administer elections, and maintain the township records.

What do you believe are the top two issues facing the township, and what are your proposed solutions?

I think the top two issues facing Bergen Township are the conditions of our township roads and the maintenance of our road equipment.

Each year, our largest expenditure is related to road maintenance. As road issues come up, I have an opportunity to voice my opinion, but as clerk, I do not have a vote on decisions that are made. In my position as clerk, I want to make sure that residents are well-informed when issues come up, that our township records are accurate, and that elections go smoothly.

What specifically can this unit of government do to cut costs and operate efficiently, while still maintaining service to taxpayers?

As a board member for the past four years, I believe the board has done a good job bidding out projects and they go out of their way to understand an issue before determining a solution. As a result, our township runs very efficiently, while maintaining the best possible service to township residents.
