The August 9, 2010 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00p.m. by Chairman Schaible. After the pledge of allegiance roll was taken with the following members present: Schaible, Weber, Weibel, Wiech, Heuer and Doering; Tintes arrived at 6:03pm. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, Principals Mike Day, Jim Schimelpfenig, and Jennifer Olson, SMS Financial Consultant, Todd Netzke, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Schaible asked to move recognitions under the consent agenda and add item E to discuss what the board would like under the consent agenda.
Weber motioned to approve the agenda with the changes; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII) Wiech motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the following: July 12, 201 Regular Board meeting minutes, August bills, a resignation of Deb Hoese from Food Service effective July 29, 2010, employment recommendations for Jana LeClaire for the music position at Winsted Elementary and the Middle School, Chris Starr 1⁄2 time choir teacher at the high school, Charlie Roux 1⁄2 time band teacher at the high school, Heidi Joy-Bursch as ECSE teacher district wide, Gary Schmidt as science/CSI/first responder teacher at the high school, Patty Diers as the ALP coordinator/instructor, and Kim Jones as EBD/ELL instructor at the high school and district wide; fall coaching assignments; communications of a verbal acceptance for the EBD position at the Middle School, school color calendar, and back to school packet, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes all the staff, students, FFA workers, and volunteers, who make sure our buildings, are ready for the students in the fall. Thank you very much for your determination and hard work again this year.
The School Board recognizes HLWW students recently crowned in local city celebrations: Miss Waverly Sherry Hoiland, and Princess Paige Klug were crowned at Waverly Days July 11, 2010. Congratulations to both of you, and good luck in the future.
The School Board recognizes Centra Sota Cooperative-Cokato for donating time, fertilizer and spray for the FFA Crop Plot. Centra Sota comes out once or twice to spray and fertilize. Thank you for your continued support of the district and the FFA Program.
Doering seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Curriculum Director and Middle School Principal, Jim Schimelpfenig reviewed the MCA testing results.
(Item VIII, Subd. B) Wiech motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Doering seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. C) Heuer motioned to approve the 1⁄2 time kindergarten position, either para or teacher; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. D) Wiech motioned to approve the Wisper contract change in leasing company; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. E) Schaible recommended moving recognitions under the consent agenda.
Weber motioned to table the issue until next month; Doering seconded; discussion followed.
Weber motioned to rescind his motion; Doering seconded; passed unanimously.
Wiech motioned to move recognitions into the consent agenda; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item IX, Subd. A) Principal Olson gave a brief report.
Principal Day gave a brief report.
Principal Schimelpfenig gave a brief report.
(Item IX, Subd. B) Each board member gave a brief committee meeting update.
(Item IX, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner gave a brief report.
Schaible said we do not need a motion to add a bus route as it would be a safety issue. Sellner said at this time it is not known if it will be needed or not.

Weibel motioned to adjourn at 7:10 pm; Doering seconded; passed unanimously.
