|REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
Monday, July 16, 2012

The July 16, 2012 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD#2687 was called to order at 6:02 pm. by Chairman Schaible. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Schaible, Heuer, Wiech, Tintes, Kocher, and Weber; Weibel was absent. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, SMS Financial Advisor Todd Netzke and new consultant Joanna Nigon, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Schaible recommended adding Item I-Approve update of additional check signer for Athletic Director checking account, and Item J-Look at the new web site. Wiech motioned to approve the agenda with the changes; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VI) Wiech motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the June 11, 2012 Regular Board Meeting minutes, July Bills, the resignation from Natalie Newman-Winsted Elementary third grade teacher, Andy Gagnon-high school social studies teacher, the employment of Darla Mackedanz as the Speech/Language Pathologist (replacing Patty Landsberger), Adam Koeppe as a middle school paraprofessional replacing Rosemary Weber, Amber Gunderson as a DCD teacher replacing Shawna Moe, Anthony Kley as a second grade teacher at Winsted Elementary replacing Cassie Akerson, Nicole Bakke as a .5 FTE-DAPE-this is a new position, and Maggie Olson as ECFE Coordinator replacing Kim Hewson-Garber, the second reading on policy 611-Home Schooling, Communications from TIES, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted FFA Chapter’s fourth annual Breakfast on the Farm, Saturday, June 16th hosted by Goldview Farms. Congratulations on another successful event.
The School Board recognizes HLWW students recently crowned in local city celebrations: Miss Howard Lake Chelsea Smith, and Kaitlyn Peterson and Ariel Zubrod as princesses during Good Neighbor Days coronation June 24th. Congratulations to all of you, and good luck in the future.
Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. A) Heuer motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Tintes motioned to approve truth in taxation hearing date of December 10th; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. C) Wiech motioned to approve fees and passes as recommended; Weber seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. D) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the local literacy plan.
Tintes motioned to approve the local literacy plan as presented; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. E) Heuer motioned to adopt the Resolution Calling the School District General Election; Wiech seconded; those in favor: Tintes, Wiech, Heuer, Kocher, Weber, and Schaible; absent: Weibel; opposed: none; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. F) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the snow removal, fuel, bread and milk estimates.
Wiech motioned to approve the estimates as recommended and table the Winsted Elementary snow removal estimate until August for clarification; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. G) Superintendent Sellner recommended re-opening kindergarten open enrollment. Heuer motioned to re-open kindergarten open enrollment; Weber seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. H) Superintendent Sellner recommends the first reading of policy 205-Open and Closed Meetings.
(Item VII, Subd. I) Weber motioned to approve Jason Mix-High School Principal as an additional check signer for the Athletic Director account per audit recommendations; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. J) Superintendent Sellner reported the new web site is up and running and asked the board to review the site and let him know of any changes.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Each board member gave a brief committee update.
(Item VIII, Subd. B) Superintendent Sellner gave a brief report.
(Item IX) Next Meeting Dates:
