|HLWW SCHOOL BOARD WORK SESSION MEETING
Monday January 28, 2013

The January 28, 2013 School Board Work Session meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairman Schaible. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Schaible, Kocher, Smith, Weibel, Tintes, Wiech, and Heuer. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, Middle School Principal Jim Schimelpfenig, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Schaible indicated there is an employment recommendation of middle school para Diana Gabrelcik, and medical leave for Char Hillmyer; and Heuer also indicated moving item C before item A. Heuer motioned to approve the agenda with the changes; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VI) Kocher motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the hire of Sara Minnich as an ECFE teacher; replacing Amy Dimmler, effective January 17, 2013, middle school para Diana Gabrelcik, and medical leave for Char Hillmyer, and the second reading of policy 416-Drug & Alcohol Testing; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner reviewed information from SEE, Schools for Equity in Education, and we can ask them to attend our February meeting.
(Item VII, Subd. A) Jolie Holland, School District Nurse, reviewed germ and disease prevention within the school district.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Betsy Knoche, Ehlers Financial Advisor, reviewed financial reports on a potential building bond issue; and Jim Wilson, SGN/Wendel Architect reviewed potential building plans. The board discussed several options and the consensus was to move forward with option D1 and a three court gym.
Schaible indicated that we need to look at a time line for a potential building bond election.
Wiech motioned to hold a work session February 4, 2013 at 6 p.m.; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
Weibel motioned to adjourn at 8:58 p.m.; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously
