City of Howard Lake Nuisance Ordinance
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING 601.06 ABATEMENT OF THE AMENDED ORDINANCE CHAPTER 6.01, ENTITLED PUBLIC NUISANCE
Subdivision 1a. Inspections and Fines. The City Council will conduct Nuisance Ordinance violation inspections of the City at least twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Any one found in violation will receive a letter from the City Administrator inviting violators to the next City Council meeting to discuss their violation and giving them thirty (30) days to abate the nuisance. If the violator does not respond to the letter by either attending the City Council meeting or abating their nuisance violation they will be sent a second letter, this time from the Howard Lake Police Department, giving them ten (10) days to abate the nuisance or the City will abate it for them and charge them for the abatement by adding the amount to their taxes. Costs start at a hundred (100) dollars an hour with a minimum of $100. Also, if the owner, occupant or agent fail or neglect to comply with the requirement of the notice or order from the officer or city council, then the owner or occupant shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) or by imprisonment not to exceed ninety (90) days, or each day that a violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
