Lester Prairie City Council Minutes
August 6, 2003
Pursuant to public notice, the Lester Prairie City Council met in special session on Wednesday, August 6, 2003. Mayor Angvall called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.. The purpose of said special session was to meet with representatives of the Fire Department, Bergen and Winsted Townships to discuss the Fire Department Budget as well as work on the City's 2004 budget.
Fire Chief Hoof reviewed his proposed budget for 2003. The Fire Department overall budget increase would be approximately 6% due to the increase in the Relief Association contribution and utilities.
General consensus of those in attendance was to approve the 2004 Fire Department Budget as presented.
Review of the City's proposed 2004 Budget took place.
General consensus of the City Council was as follows: To increase the Fire Department budget by $2,000.00 to allow for an increase in utilities; to add $10,000.00 to the Street Department to allow for possible seal coating of the South half of the City and to rearrange the construction and overlay/seal coat line items so the seal coat/overlay line item reads $26,500.00; the Storm Sewer Department is to be increased back to the 2003 budget level; $6,250.00 is to be added to the Maintenance Department to allow $250.00 for education as well as $2,000.00 to be set aside for vehicle replacement; consideration will be given to increase Water and Sewer Funds for engineering and construction costs at the August meeting; the Park and City Hall Funds are to be increased back to the 2003 budget level.
General consensus is that Clerk Pawelk is to order two population signs to be installed on the West side of the City along County Road 1 and prepare an updated over view of the budget to determine what affect the changes made tonight will have on the levy.
Mayor Angvall adjourned the meeting at 10:10 p.m..
